What area does your use case primarily fall under?
Training / education / pedagogy
The AI use case you are working on
In Senegal, youth unemployment reached 19% in 2025, spiking to 27% among young people, particularly in rural areas where educational infrastructure is often non-existent. AI is at the very heart of the project. It will enable both the optimization of teaching methods and the provision of individualized support to learners according to their level, helping them chart the best path forward.
Why this use case matters
In Africa, particularly in Senegal, young people from remote areas who are interested in computer science generally don’t know what path to take after graduating from high school. Often, they lack even the most basic computer skills; worse still, many have never even touched a computer in their entire lives. This glaring social inequality will lead to a massive loss of young talent who, given the right opportunities, would have excelled in the digital field. This project, which addresses this issue head-on, offers THE solution in a creative and innovative way.
Your team's motivation and learning objectives
As students in IT and telecommunications, we understand the critical importance of AI in our world. We’ve noticed a gap between its potential and its current integration, which is why we created this project. Our goal is to put AI at the center of the next revolution in higher education.
Your initial contribution
Building the future with the tools of today—is that a utopian dream? No, not with CYBER BOX. “CYBER BOX” is a program aimed at rapidly training thousands of young people in digital professions, especially in rural and/or isolated areas where educational infrastructure is limited or nonexistent. This project takes the form of smart micro-schools, which are actually modular training centers—modern structures made from recycled and repurposed shipping containers, powered entirely by solar energy. Each micro-school functions as a mini-center of excellence: equipped with computers, a local server, an internet connection (4G/5G with backup), and an interactive whiteboard, it enables the teaching of a wide range of digital fields such as web development, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, cloud computing, digital design, and IoT technologies. Thanks to an autonomous solar system with batteries, these centers can operate even during power outages. At the heart of the project is a bilingual AI (Wolof/French), available 24/7, which supports learners, explains lessons, corrects exercises, and adapts content to each student’s level, thereby enhancing educational effectiveness. The program, structured over 6 to 12 months, combines computer fundamentals, technical specialization, and the development of practical projects (apps, data analysis, IoT prototypes). Each micro-school can train 40 to 60 young people per year, enabling rapid and scalable deployment nationwide. This decentralized, low-cost, and agile model offers a modern alternative to traditional universities. Since these micro-schools are built using shipping containers, they can be set up in a relatively short time (theoretically less than two months) and at a low cost. This makes it a concrete project that aligns directly with the Sustainable Development Goals, the implementation of which would pose only a minor challenge. Thanks to “CYBER BOX,” after one year (two cycles), 50 micro-schools could train 4,000 to 6,000 young people in IT and digital professions, creating a veritable army of motivated young professionals ready to flood the job market. Furthermore, as project leaders, these young people will help usher in a new digital era. Because education shapes today’s world and IT will build tomorrow’s, “CYBER BOX” strives to combine the best of both worlds to offer young people in remote areas a brighter future.
